If tempering of Stainless Steel 410 Both End Threaded Nipple in this range is necessary to obtain the desired strength and ductility values, it may be that in many cases the reduced impact strength is not a problem and that the corrosion resistance is only slightly reduced. SS 410 Concentric Swaged Nipple should be heated uniformly to 2000 Degree F / 2200 Degree F (1095 Degree C / 1205 Degree C), depending upon the degree of deformation, then forged and air cooled. Large forgings should be furnace cooled or cooled in dry lime, and thus SS 410 Eccentric Swaged Nipple should not be forged below 1650 Degree F (900 Degree C).

Slow response of Stainless Steel 347 Hexagon Nipple to age hardening enables parts to be welded and directly age – hardened without an intermediate stress relief. If Stainless Steel 347 One End Threaded Nipple is cold – worked and / or precipitation – hardened, silver brazing compounds should not be used.

Also, SS 347 Both End Threaded Nipple containing cadmium are best avoided; while cadmium has not been shown to cause cracking by itself, it can aggravate cracking from other sources. Room – temperature properties of welds in Stainless Steel 347 Concentric Swaged Nipple receiving the low temperature anneal and / or age can be compared with results of the high – temperature anneals and / or age.
